I DARK SECRET nascono nel Gennaio '99 da un progetto di Calogero Piscopo, che scelse di fondare una death metal band con influenze provenienti da vari gruppi del genere come DEATH, IN FLAMES, MONSTROSITY, DARK TRANQUILLITY. Nel mese di Ottobre '99 la band, dopo una serie di esibizioni dal vivo, entra in studio per dar vita al demo-tape "The Hand Of Destiny" con la seguente formazione: Michele Mastrosimone (voce), Calogero Piscopo (chitarra), Antonio Busciglio (Chitarra), Alessandro Sanfilippo (basso), Francesco Vela (batteria). Il demo, Ottimamente accolto dalla stampa e dalla pubblico, portò, dopo molteplici cambi di line-up, al contratto discografico con l'etichetta milanese "Videoradio" per la quale uscì, il 26 luglio 2000, il debut album dal titolo "The Frozen Memories", la cui formazione comprendeva un nuovo cantante ed un nuovo bassista, rispettivamente: Cristhia e Carlo Gibiino. Successivamente la formazione continuerà a variare sino al raggiungimento di una più stabile che presenta un forte stravolgimento all'interno della band: il numero dei componenti scende a 4 ( con l'eliminazione di una chitarra ) ; al nucleo originario costituito da Calogero e Francesco  si aggiungono il cantante Davide Mastrosimone ed il bassista Marcello Cicismondo. Inizia così un'intensa attività live per i DARK SECRET, seguita da un'ulteriore cambio di line-up.......infatti, per problemi poco noti, Marcello decise di lasciare la band. Il suo posto è tuttora occupato da Pietro DI Bilio, che accompagnerà la band anche tra il bill dell' Agglutination Metal Festival, a fianco di band come Ancient e Thoten, e al Brutal Simphony Metal Festival, a fianco di validissime bands underground. Durante il resto del 2002 e i primi mesi del 2003 la band continuerà la sua attività live. Tra novembre e dicembre 2002 sarà in studio per dar vita al secondo album dal titolo "Evil and Passion" che esce (finalmente) a giugno 2003 edito da Brutal Symphony Prod.

Si susseguono diversi concerti e nel Gennaio 2004 la band si aggiudica il titolo di "MIGLIOR DEATH METAL BAND ITALIANA  2003" dal sito neroopaco.it. Nei primi mesi del 2004 la formazione cambia nuovamente, scendendo a 3 componenti...infatti Calogero passa anche alla voce e Andrea Scimone e Salvatore Morreale entrano nella band rispettivamente come bassista e batterista. Questo nuovo cambio segna un nuovo inizio nella carriera dei Dark Secret.

Nel mese di Giugno 2004 la band apre  il primo e unico concerto siciliano della band svedese DISMEMBER...ed è stato grande!!!!!!

DARK SECRET was born during January 1999 by a project of Calogero Piscopo, who decided to found a death metal band influenced by DEATH, IN FLAMES, MONSTROSITY, DARK TRANQUILLITY. On October '99 the band, after many live performances, enter in sudio to record the demo-tape called "The Hand Of Destiny" with the following members: Michele Mastrosimone (vocals), Calogero Piscopo (guitar), Antonio Busciglio (guitar), Alessandro Sanfilippo (bass), Francesco Vella (drums). This demo-tape was received in a very special way by the magazines and fanzines that reviewed it, and subsequently bringed the band to the discographic contract with the VIDEORADIO RECORDS . So, on July 26 '00, was out their debut-album called "The Frozen Memories". Its Line-up included a new singer (Cristhia) and also a new bassman Carlo Gibiino. The line-up changed many times untill the one more stable but totally different ........the number of the members is now 4 instead 5 (with the elimination of a guitar); in this period the band include the new singer Davide Mastrosimone and the bassman Marcello Cicismondo. But this line-up had a short life.....in fact, after not much time, Marcello decided to leave the Dark Secret band...and his place was took up by the young Pietro Di Bilio. With this line-up the band will be included into the bill of the AGGLUTINATION METAL FESTIVAL with bands like Ancient and Thoten, and will be Headliner at BRUTAL SIMPHONY METAL FESTIVAL . During  2002.....was out the second studio album called "Evil And Passion", that was more brutal and melodic at the same time. This album was finally out on June 2003 under Brutal Symphony Prod. !!!! This were the Dark Secret's events.....after an esitant start.

After a lot of gigs the band was nominated as "BEST ITALIAN DEATH METAL BAND 2003" by the portal neroopaco.it ! During the first months of the 2004 the line up change again...in fact the members become 3 with Andrea Scimone (bass), Salvatore Morreale (drums) and Calogero Piscopo voice and guitar!!!!! This is a new beginning for the band!!!!!On June 2004 the band was "opening act" at the first (and lonely) DISMEMBER's sicilian gig...and it was great!!!!!!!!!!!
